It's a stinking hot day in the town of Teasdale and there's the smell of danger in the air. But that doesn't stop Mrs Francis, the town's librarian, from pressing on with the opening of an "important and significant display of significant artifacts." But the discovery of a theft changes everything and when Ling realizes that Gabby has gone missing - the fire becomes the least of her problems.

The flames are approaching and the town is engulfed in smoke. Angus is helping his father settle and move the horses; E.D. is trying to help save his home from the impending blaze and Hannah and Sean suddenly find themselves caught up in a frightening mystery themselves as they try and solve the puzzle surrounding the theft at the library.

It's a race against time as E.D. and his friends battle crazy horses; crazier people, missing friends and a fire that might just engulf the entire town...
